We've spent two previous 4th of Julys aboard Disney cruises! It's a great time to sail because you get two nights of fireworks, the regular pirate show and then 4th of July fireworks too! It's also pretty amusing because the crew is almost entirely international so no one quite "gets" the 4th of July, but they try. 😂 Once cruises are back up and running I highly recommend it. Have you ever taken a cruise over a holiday?

Disney released more details about their phased reopening, including details about their new take on the food festivals at Epcot. By pure luck we had a pre-existing reservation for their reopening day, but we're still not sure if we're going to go or not. We love Disney and the food festivals, not to mention after four canceled vacations we're all feeling a little stir crazy 🤪 but with Florida becoming the "new epicenter" for Covid-19 I feel pretty nervous about visiting there right now. What are your plans? Are you 'go' or 'no-go' for Disney World this summer? 🤔😷

Disney World announced their reopening dates, and by pure luck we happened to have a resort reservation starting on their opening day (they've since frozen all new reservations). So now the question is, do we go or not? 🤔 I think it's still too soon to make that call, but we'll be closely watching the trends over the next few weeks.

It's another "we were supposed to be" day for us.

It's another "we were supposed to be" day for us. 😭 This time we were supposed to be in Miami boarding the first of two back-to-back Disney cruises, first to the Bahamas and then a transatlantic cruise to Europe, followed by a week in Paris. We did a version of this trip last year too (pictured is our sail away in Miami) which makes it even harder because we know exactly what we're missing out on. Thankfully we've rebooked the same itinerary for next year, and hopefully by then these lockdowns will be far behind us. 🤞

Our last trip to Disney World, almost 2 months ago. It was a last-minute trip that we almost didn't take; we booked it on a Monday and flew out on Wednesday. It was the opening weekend for the Flower and Garden Festival (my favorite) and, although the timing wasn't ideal, we were worried that if we didn't go we might not be able to fit a trip in later in the spring. As it turns out, we were right! 🤣 Less than a week later Disney World was closed, school was canceled, and work was moved online. I am so glad that we ended up taking this trip. It is comforting knowing that we made the most of the time we had, and that we didn't let the opportunity pass us by. Now, I realize we can't always drop everything and run off to Disney World, but given everything that has happened since, I'm really glad that this time we did. ❤️❤️❤️

I don't usually post "at home" photos as a travel account, but I guess everyone's home town could be someone else's vacation destination. Hey, I'm working with what I've got at this point! 😂 Trying to embrace that staycation mindset and appreciate everything we have in our own backyard, literally. Our yard has definitely been the quarantine MVP, and our cherry blossom trees are the prettiest part. Since we weren't traveling anywhere this spring we got extra time to appreciate them this year.
